K was supposed to create a poster for her social class as part of her spring break assignment. As usual, she left it till the last minute. In fact, it was later than the last minute. She didn’t even get going until Monday morning, the day the assignment was due. If I had known about it, I probably would have nagged her about it – for she could have made time to do it before spring break was over. Fortunately, her toughest class, Math, was her first class in the morning, and she had the rest of the day and the easier classes during which she created the poster. Not the kind of work ethics I would condone, but she got it done. And she did an amazing job at it. She took a picture of her work on her cell phone – the art work was unbelievable.
During spring break, JA was supposed to practice and rehearse her lines and dances for the upcoming musical at school – Jesus Christ, Superstar. Nope … that didn’t get done either. When I picked her up from her rehearsal yesterday, late at night, I inquired if she and her friends remembered any moves and lines. Lo and behold, she said everything went well. She must have practiced in silence or in secret, because we certainly didn’t hear or saw her practice. She even remembered to request for a transcript for her college application without reminder.
May be the kids work better under deadline pressures, or may be I just worry too much for them.
We have two awesome daughters, with different artistic flares. AWESOME!!
