Just spent an AWESOME day at the lake with my parents-in-law, and from Calgary my brother in-law and sister in-law and their little guy. Great food, great company, great conversations. Even the weather cooperated – finally, sunshine and warm temperatures.
Our little nephew, who is almost 10, was none too thrilled when we suggested he tried kayaking. After luring him to the water, standing on the dock for a bit, he braved himself and went kayaking with my husband. You could see his pride when he returned, wearing a “look at me, I did it” face, excitedly re-telling what he saw along the way. I remember those younger years, it seemed so much easier to distract, engage and convince them to do something fun with you. AND he was so thankful for getting a pile of our girls’ old Archie’s comic books.
It is wonderful to be able to spend time with family, catching up, doing nothing or just watching the little one yakking away. AWESOME!
